Congressional Candidates Campaign for more Early Votes

Local News

Super Tuesday is quickly approaching in the state of Texas. Hopeful District 15 congressional candidates are working hard to get enough votes to earn them a seat in congress.

The McAllen Citizens League hosted a political forum yesterday, to give the candidates a short opportunity to highlight their campaigns. The nine primary candidates were invited to the luncheon, however, only four of them showed.

“The importance of this is to really hear first hand from the candidates so that the citizens can make an intelligent decision,” said Christopher Julian, president of the league.

The candidates each delivered a two minute address and members of the league had the chance to ask questions afterward. Most of the questions were related to medical care for veterans.

Rio Grande Valley residents are looking forward to new representation in Washington.

“I’m all for having a brand new congressman. I’m for term limitations. They’re there for too long. They need to come in and know what’s going on here, not what’s going up there,” said McAllen resident Willard Moon.
