Coast Guard suspends search for missing swimmer off South Padre Island

Local News

The body of a missing swimmer has been found on Boca Chica Beach. That’s according to the U.S. Coast Guard this afternoon.

22-year-old Mohammed Alsubaie was swimming with friends Saturday afternoon along South Padre Island beach when he went under.

Alsubaie’s body was recovered by island police, only hours after the search for the man had officially been called off.

The coast guard had spent more than 30 hours searching for the drowning victim by air and sea, with no luck. It’s believed his body drifted and floated, finally washing up on Boca Chica Beach.
