City of San Benito Proposes Smoking Ban

Local News

A proposed ordinance would ban smoking in public places in the city of San Benito.

If approved, people smoking in public could be looking at fines up to $2,000.

San Benito could be one of the latest cities in the Rio Grande Valley to adopt a similar ordinance.

No action has been taken on this proposal. City leaders are looking to gain public interest on this non-smoking issue. According to smokefreetexas.org., there is an estimated 21 cities in the valley that have approved a smoking regulation.
