This morning the City of Pharr hosted their annual state of the city address. City leaders say that Pharr is in excellent health and has a bright future. Mayor Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez says the city has made smart investments with tax dollars which has contributed to the growth. Infrastructure, international trade, public works, safety, housing, and education were some of the issues discussed during the address.
Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez, Mayor of Pharr, “All the achievements we’ve been able to do, we’ve been able to do it because of our great united commission. As with everything there is always change. Change is good and we have a strong commission at the present. We anticipate that carrying over into the next election.”
Some highlights of the address include new projects with UTRGV. Including a $40 million investment with the university and PSJA ISD in building a collegiate style natatorium. In addition a $70 million in infrastructure projects on highways and at the international bridge.
