City of Mission Breaks Ground on New Event Center

Local News

A new state of the art event center is coming to the city of Mission. The city council broke ground on the $16 million project that is said to attract retail and restaurants. The 40,000 square foot facility will be an affordable venue for businesses and families to host events like conventions and weddings.

Mayor Norberto Salinas says despite some controversy, the new event center is necessary to keep up with the growing city.

“Our old event center is very, very old. We’ve been asked by the community for many, many years to build something that would attract more retail here to our city.”

The new venue is expected to be completed by spring of 2018.
