City of Brownsville Names New Fire Chief

Interim Fire Chief Jarrett V. Sheldon was appointed and sworn in as Fire Chief for the Brownsville Fire Department on Monday, August 13 at City Hall.

“Jarrett V. Sheldon has fulfilled the role of Fire Chief with a strong commitment to the public safety of the residents of Brownsville,” said Interim City Manager Michael L. Lopez. “As the lead administrator for the Brownsville Fire Department Sheldon has kept the focus of the department to prioritize service, stability and safety despite distractions over the last year.”

Sheldon first joined the Brownsville Fire Department in August 2001 as a Probationary Firefighter. In December 2013, Sheldon was promoted to Fire Lieutenant prior to serving as Deputy Fire Chief beginning in October 2016. Sheldon was appointed Interim Fire Chief on September 7, 2017.
