An eight-year-old girl in Fort Worth is without her mother or father after witnessing a deadly shooting.
The girl not only told a neighbor she saw the whole thing happen inside her home, but as her mom struggled to call 911 after being shot, police says the woman handed the phone to her daughter who told police, her mom had been shot.
A neighbor says where investigators later placed a cone is where he saw an eight-year-old girl standing next to her dying mother screaming for help.
Wilson Toledo, neighbor said, “Yeah, it’s pretty traumatizing for the little girl, it’s something she is going have to live with, for who knows how long, I’m sure she’s seen every bit of it.”
Investigators say the girl’s father shot his wife multiple times and then shot himself. The mother, hit in the shoulder and neck, had made it out the front door as she struggled to tell a 911 operator on the phone what had just happened. Then passing the phone to her daughter.
Officer Jimmy Pollozami of the Fort Worth Police Department said, “And then the child got on the phone and stated that my mom had been shot and that’s when law enforcement and medical professional arrived on scene.”
The young girl is now with child protective services as police search for family members and clues.
Investigators say it’s too early to pin point a motive, but record show the couple had recently filed for bankruptcy. The deadline to file claims was a week away. Neighbors say the father, who had once served in the army, was unemployed. But not one person on this street tonight said they ever thought this was possible.
Police have not officially released the names of the two victims. Detectives say they had not been called out to the home before this tragedy.
