Local News

A La Feria resident, Moises Martinez, Jr. pled guilty on March 10, 2016 to various charges related to the sexual abuse of a child. Martinez pled guilty and was sentenced to 35 years TDC on two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child; 20 years TDC for one count of indecency with a child by contact; 2 years State Jail on one count of injury to a child. Sentences are to run concurrent.

Martinez, 24 years old, had daily access to the child and took advantage of their close relationship.

District Attorney Luis V. Saenz asks that, “If you have a concern about your child’s behavior, listen to your gut feeling and act on it immediately.  Parents need to remain vigilant and be cautious with those who have immediate access to their children.”

Prosecuting this case was Child Abuse Unit Supervisor Brandy Bailey.
