The Positive Community Impact Coalition, a program of Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas, in partnership with the Brownsville Police Department have applied and been approved to receive a grant from CVS Pharmacy to obtain a permanent prescription medication drop box for installation at the Brownsville Police Department.
Brownsville Police Department and the PCI Coalition aim to help residents of Cameron County to safely dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted medication. The community will now have a permanent safe drug disposal alternative, no questions asked, at their local police department. The goal is to reduce the availability of prescribed medication for recreational use, which has resulted in addiction, intoxication, and overdoses.
When the permanent drop box is delivered and installed at Brownsville Police Department, there will be an unveiling event which will be open to all community members.
