Brownsville man assaults wife with knife

A Brownsville woman is in the hospital after being assaulted with a knife and restrained against her will by her husband.

The husband, 29 year old Luis Miguel Vasquez was arrested at their home on the 300 block of Fairfax Street. The victim’s father had reported to police that he was not able to contact his daughter for several days.

Police found a shattered glass door and the victim inside a bedroom, she had several bruises and minor cuts throughout her body.

Brownsville police spokesman, J.J Treviño, “I think that if you feel at any point in whatever relationship that you are in danger i think that you need to contact somebody and let somebody know, you know, before it gets to a different situation into a worse situation more than anything else.”

The woman was taken to the local hospital for non life threatening injuries.

As for Vasquez. he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful restraint.

His bond was set at $22,500
