Brownsville ISD Making Soccer History

Local News

It’s rare for a school district to have multiple schools representing them in state soccer playoffs.
And even more rare to have both boys’ and girls’ divisions represented for each school. But that’s exactly what the Brownsville ISD is doing.

12 of their teams will be sent to represent them in state playoffs. We reached out to Brownsville’s superintendent who tells us more about the accomplishment and the future of soccer in Brownsville high schools.

Dr. Esperanza Zendejas – BISD Superintendent said, “We’re turfing all of our high school soccer fields so that our students can have a fair playing area. They can get used to the turf, so that when they go somewhere else they go to the state championships, they have that experience.”

You can see the list of games on RGVProud.com. and good luck to those Brownsville schools.
