The Brownsville Public Utilities Board (BPUB) announces the beginning of a major capital improvement project to increase reliability to customers living in the Land O’ Lakes Subdivision. The infrastructure improvement project, which will be conducted in seven segments, will last approximately 12 months and begin on Monday, Sept. 21, 2015.

BPUB crews will begin with section one, which includes neighborhoods from Woodhaven Drive, Ridgemott Court, Price Road and Land O’ Lakes Drive (see attached map). Some residents in the area may experience a three- to four-hour period without electrical service while crews replace sections of underground power cable. To minimize outage time, crews will conduct all work preparations, including underground bores and cable run layout, before outages begin.

Individual neighborhood section upgrades should last about eight weeks. The major power infrastructure project will last approximately 12 months, until all seven neighborhood section upgrades are complete. Situations that may be a factor in section completions will be weather conditions and existing underground structures like existing services including natural gas, telephone and sewer. Area geology may also be a factor in the completion timeline due to the local water table that causes water to infiltrate the underground work areas.

BPUB apologizes for inconveniences these service upgrades may cause. For updates of service outages, please visit the BPUB Facebook or Twitter page. Please call (956) 983- 6300 or visit the BPUB website at www.brownsville-pub.com to report service outages.
