Local News

The Boys and Girls Club is set to offer mental health resources for families in Hidalgo County.

Today the organization announced the new initiative, Youth and Family Support Services. It’s expected to provide prevention and early intervention services for children of all ages. The services will be offered by qualified and trained professional mental health staff, to help meet the developmental needs of children.

Rocio Mata, Director of Program Development said, “It’s a big huge project. We want everyone to know about it, because we want other agencies to know that we are a resource. You can send families to us. Anyone going through domestic violence. Maybe at-risk kids, parents really overwhelmed with their teenagers and growing up and going through all these transitional issues. Send them to the Boys and Girls Club.”

Right now the Boys and Girls Club is also looking to hire full time social workers and case managers to help run the program.
