Border Patrol Agents Arrest 12 Sex Offenders in 12 Days

U.S. Border Patrol agents around the Rio Grande Valley Sector started the month strong and kept 12 dangerous sex offenders off the streets.

In two separate incidents, McAllen Station agents apprehended two adult males, a Mexican national and a Salvadoran national in the lower valley. During record checks it was discovered that the subjects had been arrested for sexual offenses. The Salvadoran national was arrested by Hickory Police Department in North Carolina and charged with second degree kidnapping and sexual battery.  While the Mexican national was arrested by the Edinburg Police Department, charged and convicted for Aggravated Sexual Assault.

Also during the week, Weslaco Station agents apprehended two adult male Salvadoran nationals near Hidalgo, Texas.  During processing, records checks revealed that on December 15, 2009, one of the subjects was arrested by the Houston, Texas Police Department and charged with Sexual Assault of a Child under 14 years old. While the other, was arrested by the Georges County Police Department in Maryland and charged with Rape.

Lastly, Rio Grande City, Fort Brown and Falfurrias agents also had their share of serious offenders. The apprehended immigrants’ arrests ranged from Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Battery, to Sexual Assault of a Child under 14 years old.
