Blue Santa Brings Joy And Smiles To Children And Parents

The Brownsville Police Department was on out full force this Christmas Day.

Their mission was to spread holiday cheer to children spending the most wonderful time of year at Valley Regional Hospital.

“He’s not home for Christmas but the fact that we can have Christmas here with him it just made us feel amazing.” Parent Kassandra Solis.

Mateo is three weeks old. He and his parents are among the families spending Christmas at the hospital.

Mateo was Born on December 1. He was expected on January 26, 2018 but he decided to come a little early. 

But a special guest arrived to make the day a little easier.

Manuel Montes – Brownsville Police Department said, “It’s Christmas, it’s nice to be visited by Santa Claus.”

The Brownsville Police Department’s Blue Santa didn’t just visit patients. He gave over 100 toys to children who aren’t spending the most wonderful time at home.

“It brings joy to us because we see people that are happy and people that aren’t expecting anything because they’re in the hospital.” Said Montes.

Brownsville PD has been doing this for many years.

CEO Valley Regional Medical Center Arturo Garza said, “We appreciate them coming to our hospital and spending time with our patients and our families.”

Kassandra Solis, “Spending Christmas here we didn’t really expect much but then when we heard Santa was coming we were just so excited to get to spend that time of Christmas with our bundle of joy.” 

Blue Santa and the police department also passed out toys to Valley Baptist Hospital in Brownsville.
