BISD Teacher Accused of Having An Improper Relationship with a Student

Brownsville Independent School District teacher and assistant coach Sergio Alan Sandoval is accused of having an improper relationship with a student, according to Brownsville Police jail records. 

BISD police arrested Sandoval this week according to records and received a $20,000 bond.

The details of the alleged relationship were not released to Local 23 News however BISD Interim Public Information Spokesperson Alfonso Gutierrez confirms Sandoval has been on administrative leave with pay since November 12, 2018. 

According to Brownsville Police jail records and Department Spokeswoman Melissa Gonzalez, Sandoval’s alleged improper relationship was April 1, 2018.

Local 23 has learned based on athletic publications by BISD, Sandoval is a Cross Country coach and teaches Spanish at James Pace High School.
