The army announced a major investment into the Lone Star State today.
Austin will be the home of the army futures command, working to help modernize the military. Pentagon officials say they chose Austin partly because of its entrepreneurship and education development.
The Department of Defense wants to change the army’s culture, to keep it at the forefront of technology and innovation. Ahead of our competitors abroad, by focusing on advancements in technology.
“We’re confident that army futures command will deliver the tools, weapons, equip we need for soldiers to win fights.” Dr. Mark Esper an Army Secretary said.
Officials say they do have a commander in mind, and expect to have most, if not all, 500 personnel in place within the year.
The Army currently has installations in El Paso, San Antonio, and Waco.
