The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is kicking off its annual arts and literature festival known as Festiba, with “Gear up Days at UTRGV.”
Hundreds of students gather in Brownsville for the pre-festival in partnership with ‘Region One Gear Up Programs’ to teach students about authors, learn about the arts, and explore culture.
Each year the festivities draw in over 4,000 students from all across the RGV.
This year’s theme: Inspiring communities, Celebrating Cultural Heroes.
Dahlia Guerra, Assistant VP for Public Art, “These students are being introduced to a variety of different topics to inspire them. This is a perfect age to introduce them to the possibilities of opening up their imagination.”
This year marks the 12th year anniversary of the Festiba celebrations. They will run from February 25th until March 3rd.
