Alcohol and Prostate Cancer

Local News

How much men drink while they’re young may increase their risk of high-grade prostate cancer later in life.

Researchers at the University of North Carolina tracked 650 men undergoing a prostate biopsy.

Those who consumed at least seven alcoholic drinks a week as teens were three times more likely to be diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, than non-drinkers.

Men who were heavy drinkers in their 20’s, 30’s or 40’s also had a higher risk of high-grade prostate cancer.
