The following day, agents working near Rio Grande City, Texas, observed multiple subjects load bundles of marijuana into a vehicle parked along the Rio Grande. As agents responded, the vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed. Mobile units encountered the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and a pursuit ensued. The smuggler drove back to the Rio Grande, abandoned the vehicle, and fled to Mexico. A search of the vehicle revealed four bundles of marijuana weighing an over 270 pounds, worth an estimated $221K.
