For decades, the Gladys Porter Zoo has been involved in efforts to save the Kemp’s ridley sea turtles. On Saturday, June 10 is an opportunity to help.

The 2nd Annual ‘Ridley Rush’ is a one mile walk and run to raise funds for the research of the endangered species. This family fun run aims to raise awareness about the sea turtle plight.

The Ridley Rush route will go through Gladys Porter Zoo. A person gets to experience what a baby sea turtle endures on its rush to the ocean.

The cost to participate is $12 for adults and children and the admission fee is covered. You’ll also get into the YappoPalooza Sea Turtle Festival. News Center 23 is proud to be part of the festival this year.
