EDINBURG, Texas – Border Patrol agents are continuing to face overwhelming numbers of undocumented immigrants entering through the Rio Grande Valley.

Wednesday morning, McAllen agents encountered a group of 41 undocumented immigrants near Hidalgo. The group was comprised mainly of family units and unaccompanied children. As the agents were preparing this first group for transport, a second group of 57 undocumented immigrants turned themselves in. Within an hour more groups surrendered bringing the overall group size to over 300 people.

Thursday morning, McAllen agents patrolling the same area encountered a group of 170 undocumented immigrants also primarily consisting of family units and unaccompanied children.

Border Patrol Emergency Medical Technicians screened the immigrants for illnesses and the subjects were transported to the processing center.
