Judge updates charges of DPS trooper’s alleged shooter

EDINBURG, Texas – The man accused of killing a state trooper was back in court. 24-year-old Victor Godinez went before a judge who dismissed his previous charges.

Godinez previously faced three counts of Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer. After allegedly opening fire at Texas DPS Trooper Moises Sanchez in April. However, those charges have been updated to Capital Murder following the trooper’s death.

An additional two charges of Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer remain in place as Godinez stands accused of shooting the two officers that arrested him.
