MCALLEN, Texas — The McAllen Police Department and the Texas Department of Transportation are ramping up awareness and screenings for drunk drivers starting tomorrow, June 25.

It is in the effort to create a regional impact against driving under the influence and save lives. Authorities say these procedures are to ensure a safe summer and safe Independence Day celebrations. Both agencies say most fatalities occur during holidays due to intoxicated drivers. This enforcement will run through July 8.
