Former teacher’s assistant arrested for improper relationship with student

DONNA, Texas – The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office confirms the arrest of a former Donna Independent School District teacher’s assistant. He stands accused of allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student.

30-year-old Mark Webber Aguirre was arrested in late August. Authorities say the student’s mother found sexually explicit messages on her daughter’s phone saved on a social media app. During an interview at the Children’s Advocacy Center, the student reportedly admitted she had been involved in sexual activities with Aguirre on multiple occasions since May.

Aguirre was arraigned Sept. 10 on charges of three counts of Sexual Assault to a Child and one count of Improper Relationship Between an Educator and Student.

Local 23 reached out to the school district for comment. They say Aguirre no longer works for them as he resigned from M. Rivas Elementary last month. The school did send out a letter to parents stating the allegations reportedly did not happen on school grounds, assuring no student was ever in danger.

Aguirre is now being held at the Hidalgo County Jail on a $325,000 bond.
