Food Bank of the RGV taking a stand against hunger

PHARR, Texas – September is Action Hunger Month and the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley would like your help by taking a stand against hunger.

The food bank is hosting their largest fundraising event of the year, the Empty Bowls Luncheon. For one day only, Thursday, September 12, tickets for the event will be just $30, compared to the usual price of $40. Empty Bowls will take place at the Pharr Events Center on Tuesday, September 17 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

The luncheon will also feature live entertainment, a silent auction, and of course a one of kind ceramic bowl that you can take home.

Olivia Lemus, Food Bank RGV, Manager of Volunteer Services, “Learn more about what hunger means in our community and how they can fight against it. Not only that but they get to also enjoy over 35 different restaurants that come together and give them a little taste of what they have.”

Tickets at the door will be $50. To take advantage of tomorrow’s one day sale visit or visit the food bank front office to purchase your tickets.
