Edinburg Police cracking down on illegal dumpers

EDINBURG, Texas – The Edinburg Police Department is cracking down on illegal dumpers. Police recently installing cameras around the city in areas that experience high traffic for illegal dumping. Since the initiative began, authorities have made five arrests.

If caught, you can face 180 days in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Sarah Rodriguez, Edinburg PD PIO, “We’ve been getting a lot of complaints. Luckily through our COP Division, which is our Community Oriented Policing Department, they’ve been receiving a lot of complaints from the community saying that there’s a lot of illegal dumping happening in their neighborhood. We take a lot of illegal dumping reports.”

Edinburg residents can dispose unwanted items free at the city’s regional landfill located on 8601 north Jasmine Road.
