Drainage efforts continue in Harlingen

News

HARLINGEN, Texas — City of Harlingen work crews are heading into areas that have the most standing water. Including the King Bird, Hicksville and the Green Jay areas. Those areas still have a significant amount of water.

Carlos Sanchez, Harlingen Assistant City Manager, “Over the last 24 – 36 hours, we’ve had several crews, ongoing efforts for dewatering different low lying areas throughout the city. There’s a couple of areas that we’ve already ceased operations because the water has subsided. We’re relocating some of these resources to other locations.

In addition, the Harlingen Water Works System continues urging residents to reduce water use particularly in the areas that are flooded.  Residents are asked to avoid running washing machines, dishwashers, and any other large water appliance or system until the water recedes.
