Deadly Edinburg Crash


A suspected drunk driver is to blame for a deadly crash in Edinburg.

Authorities identified the woman killed as 19-year-old active duty service member Cassandra Julianne Perez.

It happened shortly before one Friday morning on the 3400 block of the North 24th Avenue, in the Southbound Frontage Road.

Reports indicate Cassandra was on the 24th avenue standing outside of her stalled vehicle when the driver of a brown Mustang hit Cassandra and her vehicle. 

The driver of the Mustang was identified as 25-year-old Edward Leo Magallan.

As officers made contact with Magallan, they tell us they noticed symptoms of intoxication.

Magallan will be charged with intoxication manslaughter, a 2nd degree felony.
