Customs and Border Protection busts $1.5M in drugs

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – More than $1.5 million worth of drugs has been taken off the streets.

On Sunday, 61 packages of alleged methamphetamine were found hidden inside a Dodge Durango driven by a 32-year-old woman from Temple, Texas.

Later that evening, at the Hidalgo International Bridge officers discovered 19 packages of hard narcotics, 16 packages of meth, two packages of alleged heroin, and one package of cocaine in a Mazda CX-7.

Homeland Security Investigations is now handling these cases.
