Border Patrol seizes more than 1,000 lbs of drugs

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas – More than 1,000 pounds of marijuana has been seized by U.S. Border Patrol.

Border Patrol agents accrued the 1,000 pounds over three significant seizures.

One seizure was a red Jeep Cherokee that was reported then found abandoned in a home near La Rosita.

Another bust was near Garceno where a pickup truck was parked and agents say the smugglers jumped into the river, returning to Mexico after they were spotted.

The final bust happened near the riverbank by Los Ebanos. There, agents found several smugglers carrying the narcotics. The smugglers dropped the bundles and fled to Mexico.

The drugs have an estimated street value of about $953,000.
