BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Federal agents avoided a tragedy by rescuing a father and his child from strong river currents.
Border Patrol Agents together with Customs and Border Protection Officers responded to a group of about 40 undocumented immigrants who crossed the Rio Grande underneath the Brownsville gateway international bridge.
That is when federal authorities noticed the father and his son pinned in the middle of the Rio Grande because of strong currents.
The CBP Riverine unit was called out to help in this rescue.
Medical attention was provided for all the immigrants before they were taken to the Brownsville Border Patrol Station.
