Border Patrol Apprehensions Down

The number of people apprehended by or surrendered to federal immigration officials on the U.S.-Mexico border down by nearly 30%.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, in June, about 104,350 people were apprehended or turned themselves in, compared to 144,300 in May.

However, the agency also warned that the one-month change does not mean the ongoing surge of asylum seekers, including unaccompanied minors and family units, is over.
