Matt Fernandez is a general assignment reporter for KVEO. Matt joined the team in October of 2007.
Before arriving in Brownsville, Matt worked as a news anchor and reporter in Alpena, Michigan with WBKB. He also worked as a general assignment reporter with WWAY in Wilmington, NC.
Matt is a Michigan native who grew up in Bloomfield Hills, a suburb in Detroit, Michigan.
Matt is a Western Michigan University graduate. There he graduated with a Communications degree.
During his tenure at Western Michigan University Matt had the opportunity to do an internship with WTSP in St. Petersburg, FL.
Matt has covered many major stories at KVEO including Hurricane Dolly, the John Allen Rubio murder trial, the investigation of David Hartley on Falcon Lake, the death of Ice Agent Jaime Zapata, and the police involved shooting of Jaime Gonzalez.
In Matt’s free time you can catch him catching some rays at South Padre Island or watching sports. He also loves to travel. He's been to Dubai, Spain, France,and England.
