EDINBURG, TEXAS - International Students from the University of Texas-Pan American thank a company in Mexico for making it easier for them to keep in touch with their families.
Communicating with family and friends back home in Mexico is difficult for some students at UTPA they say they aren't abble to do as often as they could like because they can't afford to make International Calls. But now a select few were able to connect with their loved ones thanks to TELCEL America. The company provided 75 Samsung Galaxy Smartphones and three months of Service for free.
Telcel is one of the largest telephone companies in Mexico and known in the industry for producing high quality products and service. When it decided to launch in the United States, Ramirez says UTPA was at the top of the list when it came to Telcel's Community outreach support.
"it really was an easy decision because there is no more credible instruction to be aligned with than UTPA in this area so we understand the importance of the University to not just educational needs of students here but also we understand that the university is really economic and business nerve center of the entire region so we're for us it's an honor and a privilege to be associated with the university."
UTPA President Nelsen is grateful for TELCEL's Donation. He says it will go a long way for some of his who will also be able to use the phones to study and for other academic purposes.
The students selected received their phones at the event and were anxious to put them to use.
