Third year head coach Angela Hubbard announced the 2009 schedule for the upcoming 2009-2010 academic campaign.
"Being an entirely new team next year, I think the schedule will be competitive with what we have to offer. I believe that the pre-season tournaments and matches that we have set in place are going to get us prepared as we head into conference play," said head coach Angela Hubbard.
In their first year under the Great West Conference, the Lady Broncs will face a schedule where they will have to travel from one end of the country to the other.
The Great West Conference consists of North and South Dakota, NJIT, Chicago State, Houston Baptist and Utah Valley.
"The one thing I am most looking forward to is the start of conference to see where we stand competitively (amongst our conference)," said Hubbard.
The Lady Broncs begin the season with a two-day tournament at Sam Houston State on August 29th and 30th where they will face Louisiana-Lafayette, Sam Houston State, Southern Utah and Delaware State.
The women's team will compete in a total of three tournaments, including the Great West Conference Tournament scheduled for November.
The Lady Broncs will face Southland Conference-foes Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and McNeese State in the month of September along with neighboring rival UT-Brownsville, for the second time in the program's history.
"TAMUCC is a program I'm looking forward in facing. We haven't faced them since we defeated them in 2007 at home," added Hubbard.
"Utah Valley, on the other hand, is a program I think will be tough to face since they are tough to play, are very well coached, super competitive and highly skilled."
The Lady Broncs will open at home on September 1 as they face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with match-time slated for 6:00 p.m. CT
