UPDATE: RGV Pro Football Future

POSTED: Wednesday, September 16, 2009 - 10:42pm

UPDATED: Thursday, February 25, 2010 - 12:34pm

The team formerly known as the Dorados may have a new league to join.

The news that the Dorados are no more is still impacting the Valley. The Arena League 2 football team spent six years playing in Hidalgo.
And while the Dorados are done, since the AFL owns the team's rights and logo, the Valley may still get a pro team. The Indoor Football league includes five Texas teams, and currently 17 teams nation-wide. So could the RGV be next? League Commissioner Tommy Benizio won't rule it out. In a statement to NewsCenter 23, Benizio says his league is interested in expansion in the coming years. The RGV is listed as a potential expansion team for the upcoming season on one of the I-F-L web-sites. We'll keep you posted on this story as it develops.
