Harlingen Cardinals

Congratulations to Harlingen Cardinals for been The Chevy Players of The Week.
The Big Red Bird machine advance to Division I Regional Semifinals. The Cardinals had a perfect season by going 10-0 in District 31-5A. In the first round of the playoff the Cardinals flew by the San Benito Greyhounds 49-14 in Division I Bi-District clash. The following week the Cardinals were home entertaining Laredo United Longhorns in a Division I Area Round game. The Big Red Bird Machine crushed  the Longhorns 49-28 to get their 600th win in school history.

This past week the The Cardinals got on the bus and drove 2 hours north to take on Northside Stevens Falcons. In the battle of birds the game went into double overtime. With 6:58 left in the game the Cardinals scored to take the lead 17-10, but the Falcons drove down the field to tie the game 17-17 with less than a minute to play. In the first overtime the Falcons drew first blood, but the Big Red Birds answered back to tie it at 24-24. In the second overtime the Red Birds scored to make it 30-24. They missed the extra point. The Falcons scored and Manuel Ramos converted the extra point to seal the win 31-30 ending Harlingen run in the playoff. Congratulations to Harlingen Cardinals for been The Chevy Players of The Week and going 3 rounds deep in the post season. And congratulations to all the players and teams that were part of the Chevy Players of the week. See you next year.
