Chevy's Player of the Week

Weslaco East Defense

Congratulations to Weslaco East Defense Unit for been the Chevy Players of the Week.
All year long the defense was outshined by  Bobby “Speedy” Gonzalez and the offense, but the last two week the defense made some big stops. With less than two minutes left in the game Victoria’s West was intercepted by Weslaco’s East Marco Navarro to seal the win. In a district that has big defense unit’s like Edcouch-Elsa and Mission Veterans the last team that’s still playing is Weslaco East Wildcats. A big reason is the defense.

Two weeks ago they stop a very dangerous team Corpus Christi Ray and they kept quarterback Ray
Rodriguez in check all night long. To keep the offense within a striking distance. Tied at 28 late in the 3rd quarter the Wildcats forced Victoria West to three and out. That’s when the offense went to work. They took the lead and never looked back. Up next is Cedar Park a high octane team that puts up big points.

Congratulations to Weslaco East Defense Unit for beening the Chevy Players of the Week and congratulations
To the Weslaco East Wildcats for beating Victoria West 42-35.
