A sophomore at PSJA Memorial high school becomes the first from the Valley to join Team USA in Muay Thai.
Many of us have never heard of Muay Thai, but the growing sport already has a star in the Valley.
Roel Alvarado, 15-years old, won a bronze medal from the 2009 IFMA World Championships in Thailand. He spent one week in Asia with his teach, Kru Kayan Sitsanthaparn.
Alvarado's accomplishments earn him a spot on Team USA for the first ever Pan American Muay Thia Championships next October (in Brazil). Kayan says this dream came a reality with the Valley's fund raising to pay for Roel's expenses.
