In a special Olympic segment to get you geared up for the 2008 games in Beijing, 12 local athletes are recognized to have the potential to one day be on the Olympic team in their individual sport.

Today's Future Olympian is Weslaco's track and field star Mishak Rivas. He will get his chance to keep working on an already stellar track record with Texas State. He will try to improve on his 400 meter time of 47.29 seconds.

A new Valley athlete will be featured every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday leading into the Olympics. It's part of your 2008 Olympic coverage with the games beginning August 8th.
