Many of the young soccer players in the Rio Grande Valley are probably excited about a professional soccer franchise coming to the Valley.

In Brownsville this weekend, the undefeated Leopards United Futbol team played in a scrimmage at Olivera Park. Although these soccer players are 9 years-old and under, they still hit the pitch for practice at least three times a week.

The Brownsville Opportunity Youth Soccer Association or BOYSA is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year as a non-profit association for youth soccer in Brownsville. Coach for the Leopards United, Michael Jones says the professional team coming to the Valley could also help boost the Valley's economy by possibly offering these young players an opportunity to stay at home while playing the sport they love.

Coach Michael Jones says, the professional team plus the Houston Dynamos Soccer Academy being here, could hopefully lead to a professional soccer stadium being built in the Valley
