FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HIDALGO, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) welcomed the one millionth fan to attend a game at Dodge Arena in the six-plus year history of the franchise on Saturday night.

Heather Bishop, 53, of Bradford, Ontario, was the lucky fan who entered the arena at 7:04 p.m. to become the one-millionth fan in team history. She was greeted by Killer Bees General Manager Grant W. Buckborough and Killer Bees staff members along with a celebration that included black and yellow balloons and confetti.

Bishop, a second-year Winter Texan and Detroit Red Wings fan, said she was surprised to be the winner.

“I couldn’t believe it was me,” Bishop said. “I’m grateful and excited to win. I’ve never won anything like this before.”

Bishop received a prize package worth over $6,000 that included an authentic Killer Bee game jersey with ONE MILLIONTH FAN on the name bar; Whataburger for a year; Pizza for a year at Russo’s New York Pizzeria; A pair of San Antonio Spurs tickets courtesy Ticket Zone; A pair of round trip tickets to Las Vegas or Orlando via Allegiant Air; A photo session (including an 8x10 and two 5x7’s) with team photographer Cliff Ranson; A 42-inch LCD high definition 1080p flat screen TV from LG. Bishop also received a commemorative gift as well as a seat upgrade to a suite in the arena.

“We’d like to thank all of our fans for the tremendous support we’ve received over the years and look forward to welcoming our two millionth fan in the coming years,” Buckborough said. “Our corporate partners stepped up with some fantastic prizes for this milestone fan and we are thrilled for Heather.”
