Monday at the Shrimp Basin there are not a whole a lot of shrimp boats docked.

"We love to see the dock clean that means they are making money."

But that was not the case over the weekend. Usually the shrimp boats are out in the Gulf catching shrimp during their peak catching time, but because of a worry of Tropical Storm don hitting the boats had to come in Friday.

"It was a minimal storm didn't amount to a whole bunch they came in because they though they were going to get a big blow out of it."

Carlton Reyes who has a fleet of six shrimp boats had to dock his boats for two days.
Reyes says those two days were costly.

"We lost about 2,500 pounds for the two days per boat, a fleet of 6 boats your looking at about 15,000 pounds of lost product for those two days."

That goes for the entire shrimp basin which has around 165 boats.
Reyes says his boats like the majority of the boats took off back in the Gulf Sunday. Reyes says even though he lost two important days he's keeping positive. .

"hopefully in the long run we can make it up."
