Surveillance video helps bust man who stabbed 12-year-old girl outside of Texas McDonald's.
A man has been arrested in a 12-year-old girl's apparently random stabbing at McDonald's restaurant near Texas A&M University.
College Station police said John Robert Murphy III, 23, was arrested Wednesday at his parents' house in Houston.
Houston police said a woman at the home answered the door and led them to Murphy, who was asleep.
Murphy, who lives in an apartment complex next to the restaurant and attended Blinn College, has been charged with injury to a child.
Bond was set at $150,000.
Officer Rhonda Seaton said Melanie Ceballos was standing inside the restaurant, near the exit, when she was stabbed in the stomach Monday night.
The girl's father is a restaurant employee and she was waiting for him.
"As the male approached Ceballos, he appeared to unfold a knife with his right hand. The male paused for a brief moment, then proceeded to stab Ceballos in the abdomen with the knife he was holding," court documents stated.
An affidavit said Ceballos smelled alcohol on her attacker's breath.
Police said Ceballos remained hospitalized in stable condition.
She is expected to survive.
