At a school board meeting on Monday evening, it took only six minutes in executive session for the Santa Maria school board to terminate the employment of Dr. Wilma Jo Smetter in a 5 to 2 vote.
Parents and students at the meeting were very upset and they did not get the opportunity to speak during the public comment period. Before the meeting parents and students spoke out about he firing and stated they will protest the boards decision.
