Cameron County Constable from Precinct 2 says three young children ages one, 4 months, and 5 years were all left alone inside a car.
The Cameron County Courthouse parking lot is a place where many parents take their children into the courthouse. But Cameron County Constables from Precinct 2 say that was not what happened for one mother Wednesday. constables say the young children were left locked inside a white car for more than five minutes.
The car was left running with the air conditioning on while the mother went inside the courthouse. Constables say it was a very scary moment when the 5 year old started touching the gear shifter. Brownsville police also assisted while the children were in the car. Constables say they were able to get the five year old in the car to unlock the door and the children were ok.
Child Protective Service is now investigating this incident. The mother has been arrested but not charged yet. The children are now with their grandparents.
