In Weslaco, police arrested the man involved in a knife holdup at a local game store after receiving a tip from Crime Stoppers. Rogelio Trevino III was arrested at 9 a.m. Wednesday. According to police, the Mercedes man was involved in an aggravated robbery at the Game Stop Store at 601 E. Expressway that happened Wednesday afternoon. He was tracked down when someone saw the surveillance video in media outlets and called Weslaco Crime Stoppers.
"He knew he was going to get caught. he saw it on the news he knew somebody was going to call in to crime stoppers and give his information up," said Danny Elizondo, a spokes person with Weslaco Police Department.
Police said Trevino is seen on surveillance video Wednesday shopping in the store and then heading to the cash register counter faking he wanted to buy some video games thats when Trevino pulled out a knife and demanded money from the employee. The crook took off with an undisclosed amount of cash and video games from the store.
"Once he got the games he drove down the expressway and actually tossed them out. which we did recover," said Elizondo.
Trevino has already been arrested almost a year ago for theft. Tight now he faces aggravated robbery charges and his bond was set at $250,000.
