Monday marked the U.S. Postal Service's busiest mailing day of the year. The recommended deadline for sending Holiday cards and letters packed post offices across the Valley.
Employees at the McAllen Post Office were working around the clock and despite the rush there is still time to send greeting cards and gifts, however, you will have to be patient. In order to alleviate long times and wait times, post offices have hired more help for this busy Holiday week. If the lines still seem too long, there are other options, many people drive up and quickly send their holiday greetings. Others avoid the long lines and use the 24 hour automated postal center, the system dispenses stamps, weighs packages and calculates postage for express and priority mail.
For last minute shoppers, USPS says the last day to send out any express mail packages is December 22nd.
