DPS issuing the travel warning saying with the drug cartel related violence continuing safety and security for holiday travelers is not guaranteed if they travel to Mexico.
Violence continues in Mexico, and with that a travel warning was issued by DPS.
In the warning it says the rising tide of violence in Mexico is well documented and that kidnappings and violence between cartels and battles between cartels and law enforcement have escalated in recent years.
Ray Champion from Brownsville says he used to go to Matamoros to eat but now he is listening to that travel warning.
Armando Ybarra says he does take the risk either.
DPS says that travelers should check to the US State Department website for the most up to date security issues in Mexico.
